Bloomberg needs the following ports opened on the firewall:
48129-48137/udp
8194-8196/tcp
8209-8220/tcp
8290-8294/tcp
These can be added under Firewall/Services. Add four services something like:
bloomberg_48129
bloomberg_8194
bloomberg_8209
bloomberg_8290
Then created a group called Bloomberg and add these four services to the group. Then go into Firewall, LAN->WAN and allow from Firewall Subnets to Any using Bloomberg and you should be good. These port definitions are from the latest Transport and Security Specification dated May 10, 2010.
As always, define your outbound rules by services groups and do not setup LAN->WAN Any rules. This is sloppy firewall configuration and makes it hard to troubleshoot issues.

If trying to use TC Futures Chat through a firewall and having problems, you will need to open port 18001/tcp on your firewall to allow access. On a Sonicwall, create a service for TC Futures Chat and then setup a rule to use that service from your firewalled subnets to the Any.

Hope that helps

Beware of these e-mails that appear to come from GoDaddy. They look legit but if you mouse over the links, they take you to non-GoDaddy sites and appear to be infected with Malware. I received 5 of them today and they were able to make it past our filters (Postini/Google/Trendmicro), so please be aware.

If you are unable to pull updates from Microsoft and get the error 80072F8F, this is a problem with time on your computer. This is very common after a spyware/malware problem. You can click on the clock in the bottom right corner and select “Change Date and Time Settings”. Change the date/time to the current day and close to the current time. Then select the tab for Internet Time, Change Settings and click Update Now to sync the time over the Internet.
Once that is done, try to check for Windows Updates again.

Recently ran into the problem of “Server Execution Error” when trying to open the Network and Sharing Center in Vista after a virus/spyware problem on a client PC. After cleaning the virus/spyware issues, the problem persisted. Fixed by running a command prompt as an administrator:
net localgroup “Administrators” “NT Authority\Local Service ” /add
Thanks to “docinventor” on xoxideforums.com for the tip

The RCG Onyx Trading System uses ports 6002/tcp and 9002/tcp in order to pass through your firewall. You will need to go into Services on your Sonicwall and add these two services before going into Rules and creating a LAN->WAN rule. If running SonicOS Enhanced, you can bundle the two Onyx services into a group to make things easier.
