Description:
This a mid-entry level position assisting and supporting the IT department with back-end day-to-day operations and to ensure proper computer operation so that end users can accomplish business tasks. This includes receiving, prioritizing, documenting, and actively resolving end user help requests. Problem resolution may involve the use of diagnostic and help request tracking tools, as well as remotely or in person conduct set-up, administration, configuration, or troubleshooting of problems.

Linux Sysadmin / Dev OPS Admin
We are looking for a Dev/OPS-System Administrator (SA) who will be responsible for all aspects of operations and maintenance of the client’s production and test website environments. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational standards and are functioning optimally. Strong networking, troubleshooting, database, and application deployment/maintenance skills are crucial. Only candidates with a strong Linux skill set will be considered. Must be proficient in Linux, Apache, PHP, mySQL, nginx.
In this capacity, you will;
• Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups, etc.
• Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions; perform ongoing efficacy assessment of security policies and systems; review, recommend, and implement security systems and tools in support of the company’s security policies
• Provide Tier II/other support for per request from operations and customer support teams. Investigate and troubleshoot complex infrastructure and systems issues as escalated.
• Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted parties.
• Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary.
• Upgrade and configure system software and hardware as needed in coordination with the engineering group
• Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures. Ensure that policies are adhered to.
• Deploy new code to production servers and coordinate with affected parties.
• Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.
• Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure Load balancer, CPU, memory, and disks as required.
• Plan for disaster contingencies and be prepared to act if a disaster occurs.
• Review and tune database, run queries, create reports, etc.
• Troubleshoot networking and http issues using tools like wireshark, etc.

Responsibilities:
- Field incoming help requests from end users via both telephone and e-mail in a courteous manner.
- Build rapport and elicit problem details from help desk customers.
- Identifies, diagnoses, and resolves level one problems for users of the ERP, PC software and hardware, company LAN and WAN, VPN, the Internet and new computer technology; communicates solutions to end-users.
- Prioritize and schedule problems resolutions. Escalate problems (when required) to the appropriate next level.
- Use ticketing system to record, track, and document the Help Desk request
- Apply diagnostic utilities to aid in troubleshooting.
- Access software updates, drivers, knowledge bases, and frequently asked questions resources on the Internet to aid in problem resolution.
- Identify and learn appropriate software and hardware used and supported by the organization.
- Perform remote fixes at the desktop level, including installing and upgrading software.
- Perform preventative maintenance, including checking and cleaning of workstations, pc’s, laptops, printers, and peripherals.
- Test fixes to ensure problem has been adequately resolved.
- Perform post-resolution follow-up to help requests.
- Provides one-on-one end-user problem resolution for company approved PC software
- Receive, deliver, tag, set up, and assist in the configuration of end-user PC desktop hardware, software and peripherals.
- Create and configure user ERP, e-mail, Active Directory etc. profiles and accounts
- Helps install local area network cabling systems and equipment such as network interface cards, hubs and switches.
- Minimum two years of computer science coursework or equivalent work experience
- Knowledge of basic computer hardware, including laptop, pc, switches, hubs etc.
- Knowledge of basic networking including understanding of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS etc.
- Experience with desktop and server operating systems, including Windows XP, 7 and Windows Server Os’s
- Support experience with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office
- Working knowledge of a range of diagnostic utilities.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with a focus on listening, and questioning skills.
- Strong documentation skills.
- Ability to follow manuals and read complicated instructions
